SHS Band -- Inauguration Parade...

6:20 am – Saturday, January 17, 2009

They are off. Well not off, they are at the High School still waiting for the K-9 Units to show up and go through everything. They have to sniff all suitcases, carry-on’s, instruments, etc. Everything has to be gone through. We don’t expect any problems, but they want to find any issues in Sanford instead of in Washington DC. They are supposed to roll out at 7am. They still have to get everything on the busses and trailer also once they are inspected. They would have had all the instruments on the trailers yesterday but the weather is to cold and it would have damaged them.

They are all excited. Matt has been bouncing off the walls all week. I didn’t know the boy could talk so much. Steven hasn’t been as talkative, but you can tell he is excited also.

So we were up at 4am. I made eggs for the kids and myself, Steve wasn’t up and out of bed yet. We got cleaned up, got the cats fed, and out the door we went a little after 5am. Steve went with us to drop the boys. We hung around there about 30 to 40 minutes. Once we were sure we were pretty much only in the way and needed to head home where it’s warmer, although the kids didn’t seem to notice the weather, I got hugs and left. It was a bit hard, they are still our kids and I miss them (as much as I am looking forward to a no-kid, no-commitment, no-work weekend.

I plan to get out of work on Tuesday and head directly home so I can watch the end of the Inauguration stuff and then see the parade.

Last night was chaotic. I made turkey and gravy and potatoes, I washed all the laundry so the kids had all their clean clothes, I did haircuts, they both got showers, I went to Dad’s to get another memory card for Matt’s camera ( well it was one of Dad’s that he let him use). I got everything cleaned up, we went through suitcases, I hope they remembered long shirts to wear under the uniform tops for Tuesday.

I didn’t sleep much last night and I don’t think Matt did either. I’m not sure about Steven, but he was up and dressed before 4am.

It’s been a long haul to get here. It is -13* without the wind, its -22* with the wind. The kids should be warm enough on the busses.

Ok this wasn’t a great description but its as good as my mind is working.
